Grandpa's boy!

My dad was working in Chicago this past week and decide to take a detour home and see us!! We didn't do much Bloomington sightseeing, but we had a lot of fun. My dad is a Hamburger and Shakes kind of guy so we went to Opie Taylors for a late lunch on Saturday and made shakes that night and I think that's all we ate for the day. (Probably still more than anyone should eat in a day if you saw the size of the hamburgers my dad and Eric ordered:)

Saturday afternoon may dad was on a work call and I went back in my room to get ready for the day. When I came out Eric was watching TV and my dad was holding Weston and talking on the phone. Of course my first reaction was to ask Eric "Why aren't you watching Weston!!" It turns out, Weston kept walking or crawling into the office and then Eric would go get him and bring him back and he'd just cry and cry. SO after this happened a few times my dad came and got him so that he could sit with him while he talked on the phone. So I decided he was turning into a Grandpa's boy. My dad thought it was just because he was on the phone. Then as I was trying to get him ready to leave for lunch, he kept reaching for my dad. Then he blamed it on Weston wanting his glasses. I think he was just excited to see Grandpa!...and so was Danger:)

Thrillsons + Thomas Family = Fun

We were lucky enough to have a visit from Andy, Alex and little Meg this last weekend. Lucky for us they only live 4 hours away in Chicago. We took them to our favorite little place- The Exotic Feline Rescue Center. If you are one of our Bloomington readers, it is a must visit. They have all sorts of tigers, lions, cougars and other cats in large holding areas that are fenced in by a single chain linked fence. Nothing like getting inches from a man eating cat.

The cats meant business this time. Last time we went it was just the three of us with a guide- however this time we were in a group of 20, and I don't think they liked it. The tiger in the bottom picture jumped a bit and growled at me while taking a picture, and Andy was charged by the lion below while also taking a picture. Lucky for us there is a chain-linked fence.

West going after the only non-dangerous cat.

Trips

Start things off with a few mandatory picture of West.

He now loves to put things on his head- mixing bowls, blankets, and his hood. The other picture shows his improving walking skills and his new Peruvian outfit.

So my job is pretty great- in the past 4 weeks, I was able to spend 2 weeks in Brazil and a week in Peru. As chance would have it, there was a medical conference in Maceio, the small city where I served my mission, which meant a free trip to go back and visit some old friends. I then went off to Rio for a few days. Luckily while I was in Brazil, Chels and West were able to go to Denver to spend time with her parents.

After a week home, I was off to another conference in Cusco Peru, which happens to be close to Machu Picchu- I promise there was work done during the trips.
